August 10, 2004SPV Records has officially confirmed the signing of HELLOWEEN to the label's roster. The Hamburg, Germany-based band, which has been in existence since the early '80s, is one of the world's most successful heavy metal acts, having influenced countless bands over the course of 18 album releases.
In 1987-1988, HELLOWEEN were under SPV distribution and brought SPV head honcho Manfred Schütz the company's first gold albums for German sales in excess of 250,000 copies for each of the metal masterpieces "Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 1" and "Part 2".
HELLOWEEN guitarist Michael Weikath commented: "SPV was our cornerstone and that is the basis of a successful partnership." SPV Managing Director Manfred Schütz added: "HELLOWEEN is one of the first metal acts that brought the high standard of German heavy metal to the entire world. The amazing success of the first two gold albums has stayed with me as one of my happiest memories and I'm proud that HELLOWEEN have signed directly to us at SPV/Steamhammer for the world. "
The band will enter the studio together with producer Charlie Bauerfeind at the end of 2004 to begin recording their new album. A summer 2005 release is expected, to be followed by a world tour beginning in October 2005.
